January 2016 – Why do fools fall in mud?
2016 is now well underway, fresh, bright…and wet and windy! It hasn’t put us off from our training for the next #ChallengeGeminks, which has seen us running and walking through plenty of muddy puddles. We are tackling the Born Survivor 10k Obstacle Course Race at Lowther Castle, Cumbria in April so there is plenty of training to be done!
In honour of the original GEM from where we took our name, David’s daughter Grace Emily Marie, and her favourite toy, the team name is ‘The Teddy-Bear Grylls’, hopefully we can also live up to the name of a true born survivor!
We are being joined this year by a few friends and family eager to prove their military worth, and thrilled to welcome Emma Russ from Galloways Society for the Blind to the team. We supported Galloways last year and raised £500 from the run, and hope beat that figure this year.
In addition we are also supporting Kidney Research UK this time, in respect of their considerable work done and without whom, as well as our wonderful NHS, one of our loyal supporters would not be with us this year. It’s a charity close to the team’s heart as this is the mum of one of our members, Sarah.
and expect us to look like this again!
You can follow our endeavours on Facebook, Twitter and on the website blog pages, and we will always welcome new support and helpful comments on training – use our hashtag #ChallengeGeminks – or why not take up the challenge yourself? Only 12 weeks to go til the big day…..
